July: Faith in Jesus' Atonement

Our Family’s “Faith” Jesus Celebration 🎉
This month, I created a simple, multi-sensory, heart-centered way to help our family explore the principle of faith in Jesus Christ and what that looks like everyday.
Below are a few of the ways we experienced it together (not all on the same day).
1. Create & Taste — Jesus Is With Me Meal
I borrowed this idea from the CreativeKidSnacks website because it is so cute:
We created cross-shaped sandwiches (we made chicken salad) and used baby carrots to make Jesus on each, with small pieces of raisins for eyes. When we cut out the crosses it left cute tea-size sandwiches so we made a teapot of chocolate milk to drink as well.
As they ate I said things like, "Jesus loves being with you. He knows exactly how you feel. The same Jesus who healed people loves you just as much. If Jesus were eating with us today, what do you think He would say?"

2. Children's Book — Heartfelt Learning
At bedtime, we enjoyed reading this beautiful and heart-stirring book, The Boy and the Ocean by Max Lucado. It talks about how unending God's love is, which is so essential to understand if we want to experience closeness to God. It also shows how nature is a way we can witness His great power. I felt like this book really set the mood for the conversation we had next.

3. Reflection Questions — Storytelling Magic
We shared stories about what our relationship with Christ has felt like and helped our 5-year-old recognize moments of her own relationship growing.
Us Parents: We both reflected out loud in front of our kids on this question: When life feels hard, do I turn to Jesus because I trust His love and power? What does it feel like when I do?
Our child:What is something Jesus can help you with?
To set the tone, we added a theme to the banner we reuse each month:
“Faith: I Trust Jesus To Save Me.”
You can receive this banner free as well as these teaching ideas each month when you sign up for my e-letters below.
